Pear Apple Sauce just in time for Fall!

We have had an exciting start to the fall season at here at Vita!

We have welcomed new team members, offered a new class, and embraced the beautiful season with our talented team.

We have welcomed Chef Nicole Hoens onto our team this month. She is a New York native and Institute of Culinary Education alumnus who has been in the food industry for almost 10 years. She is now a full time Mommy to baby boy Simon and Chef. We couldn’t be more excited about her joining our team and can’t wait to see what delicious recipes she will come up for us this year!

Last weekend, Our Vita Team had an amazing time educating the community on Mom and Baby Nutrition and meeting new contacts at the Baby Bump Expo. Nicole demonstrated how to make the recipe below for your babies. It is a no sugar added recipe and a wonderful intro to food for your baby this fall season! We are happy to announce that we will be offering our Foodie Baby class more in the coming months.

Not a Mom with young children? Don’t Worry! Stay tuned for more class offerings for all ages!!

The recipe from our class this past weekend was:

 Pear and Apple Sauce

Yield: 2 Cups or 16 oz.

2 Apples, peeled and diced

2 Pears, peeled and diced

1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1/8 tsp Ground Clove

1/4 tsp Ground Ginger

1 tsp Peanut Butter (optional)

Instructions: In a medium saucepan, cover apples and pears with cold water. Cook over medium high heat and bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Stirring occasionally, simmer until soft about 10 minutes. Set aside 1/2 cup of cooking liquid and drain the apples and pears. Using a blender, add fruit, spices, coking liquid and peanut butter. Blend until smooth.
