Step 1: Why is it important to stay hydrated?
Let’s start with the importance of staying hydrated everyday. Considering our bodies are made up of 60% water (and our brains are 80% water!) it stands to reason that both the quantity and quality can have a huge impact on our overall health both in the short term and long term.
The main component in our blood is water, which enables it to carry oxygen to our organs, muscles, and cells. The more water in our blood the easier it is for our hearts to pump that blood throughout our body causing less stress on our heart. Now I don’t know about you but I have this odd fear of my heart kicking out on me and I will literally do anything I can to improve my heart health.
Water also lubricates our joints, regulates our body’s temperature, delivering nutrients to our cells and even helps with waste removal, (not having a consistent bowel movement is a serious problem for many people, so here’s to being #1 at going #2!)
